Programming Contest

Twice a year, the Puget Sound Computer Science Teachers Association and the UW CSE department sponsor and host a programming contest for high school students.

The first one this year will be on Saturday, December 11, 2010. It runs from 8:30 in the morning until about 2:00 pm, on the UW campus. Students work in teams of 1-3 on one computer for three hours and solve programming problems in the language of their choice. There are prizes, food, and fame to be had.

There are two categories, novice and advanced. An RHS team would have an excellent chance because they would qualify in the novice division, since there have been no CS classes here yet!

Anyone interested in forming a team? I’d be the coach. In the past there have been teams from all over the Puget Sound region and it’s a fun day. (I’m also one of the organizers of the contest and am writing some of the problems.)

Here is the information: PS CSTA Programming Contest.
