Microsoft is sponsoring a web design contest for high school students. The contest, called “bliink,” is open to U.S. students ages 13-19 participating in teams of two to four. Students can participate with projects created in or out of class.
Registration begins January 5, 2011. Deadline dates in early March vary by state. There are prizes, but they haven’t announced them yet. Rumors are they include Xbox 360 and Kinect systems!
The challenge is to create a website “that communicates your vision of the future.”
Projects are judged according to these criteria:
- Creativity/Original Ideas (25 Points)
- Communication (20 Points)
- Organization/Navigation (20 Points)
- Visual Presentation/Design (35 Points)
The catch is that you have to use Microsoft’s Expression Studio software, but you can get a free copy of the package.
If any of you are interested, let me know and we can organize it.
