The Name Game

Students in Intro to Computer Science completed their first projects in Scratch, a visual programming language we are using that enables them to easily create animations. Scratch, developed at the MIT Media Lab’s Lifelong Kindergarten research group, is designed to teach students the fundamentals of computing using discovery and “constructivism.”

The assignment, called “The Name Game,” was to create an animation using the letters of their names as sprites, or characters.

You can look at a gallery of their wonderful and creative projects on the Roosevelt CS project area of the Scratch website, in the The Name Game gallery.
