Seniors Alexis Allen and Nicoleta Ionita received Washington State “Aspirations in Computing” awards from the National Center for Women in Technology (NCWIT). This award “honors young women at the high-school level for their computing-related achievements and interests.” It qualifies them for scholarships and other opportunities designed to encourage young women to pursue further study and careers in computing and technology.
Only twenty students from Washington State were selected for this award. This is the first year (that I know of) in which Roosevelt students entered this competition and I hope to expand our participation next year. It’s a great opportunity and a great honor.
Congratulations to Alexis and Nicoleta!
