Jackie Robinson Day

This coming Sunday, April 15, 2012, is Jackie Robinson Day in Major League Baseball. It is the 65th anniversary of Robinson, the great athlete and humanitarian, breaking the color barrier in professional sports in America.

On that day in 1947, he became the first black man to play on a major league sports team, the famed Brooklyn Dodgers. He was hired by Coach Branch Rickey, made his debut at Ebbetts Field, and changed our society forever.
